Friend Mario Lucio Zico, one of the Mailing List of participants of the Games. With very good humor, Mario presents his version of the "History of the Games."
"The Story of the Games"
Since ancient times, when the human species emerged on the planet, he was born beside her a vital necessity for their intellectual growth: play.
Ancient manuscripts speak of games played in all regions of the planet. It is difficult to delineate exactly what was the first game appeared in the world. Supporters of Darwinian theory claim that it was a game called Evolution game, practiced by Neanderdhal. Reportedly was a very simple and rude game, played with a big bone. Marked up points tearing the heads of opponents and thus getting the domain territories.
Another school of researchers, religious doctrine, disagree with this fact and firmly declare that the first game was invented by Adam. Obviously it was a game for one player. They say, Adam gathered the pebbles separated them by color. Then watched the birds flying and separated a stone for each color via the beautiful birds. When one of the piles was running out, he would begin the process. Desirous of major challenges, called for a company, and even make a draft board for two players, who would be back at each other, each covering one side and visually noting the colors. His request was granted, but then the gaming world suffered its first major negative impact. The companion of Adam and Eve (which by an incredible twist of fate was honored with his name been put in a very good material for construction of board games), got sick soon that game. Then the problems started, that they say, are the basis of all the suffering of today. Observing more closely his new partner, Adam imagined it as a large, winding board and then tried to seek some piece that could be used in this new game, forgetting completely from their original game. With the passage of time, came two children and as they were very pirracentos, the young couple decided to make a game that could occupy the idle time of the boys. They created a game called Treason. Each of the boys was carrying a small bag with ripe fruits and try to hit your opponent, always from behind. At the end of the day who hit him more times won. Everything was going well until one day Cain, excited about a new fruit that discovered, used it for the game. His unfortunate brother Abel then was the first known victim of human history to be felled by a coconut, masterfully shot by his brother. It was the second major negative impact suffered by the games. It was only the second game created by man and it was responsible for the death of a quarter of humanity. This unfortunate episode marked forever all those who in future generations were to be dedicated to board games. Were all stigmatized by this original spot, suffering persecution, threats and often paying with their lives for daring to play. For a long time the gaming started to be practiced only by the lower castes of mankind, yet secretly. They say that Job's slaves played Caxangá.
Among the largest human history players stand out names such as Joan of Arc (say it was fire!), King Arthur (who built an enormous round table just to get your friends to play), Theseus (inventor of the games maze) and one of the most famous Galileo Galilei, creator of the fantastic game Dancing Planets. In a beautiful tray Lelei (as it was called by his playing peers) designed the Sun as center of the universe and round planets, including the Earth, revolving around the king star. It was enough that the mortal enemies of the act games. Lelei was pressed, persecuted, arrested and was forced to publicly admit that his game was wrong, it was that the Sun revolved around the Earth and not vice versa. It was thus prohibited from creating new games. This his attitude turned out to influence the most bizarre creations. Shortly thereafter, a gaming fanatic worshiper created a game called "U or" (Arabic-filastenesa-Celtic expression without translation possible for our language). Afraid of having the same Galileo's fate, he tried to draw the Earth as if it were flat. This concept still lingers in similar games to this ancient "or U" and it is truly incredible that such an old concept has survived to the present day. It is true however that several attempts have been made so that the planet was represented in its real form. In the Middle Ages came to use the head of decapitated enemies to represent the earth's shape, but proved impractical because visãode prevented the entire board and the pieces fall easily.
The story continues with the gaming world with their periods of ups and downs, sometimes making great names, sometimes producing real executioners. Attributed to Julius Caesar the creation of several strategy games, but unfortunately this fact can not be confirmed because the alleged games burned in the great fire of Rome.
One of the players who most popularized was Napoleon Bonaparte. Truly this is one of the most fantastic farce of humanity because Napo (so called by his friends) was a fraudulent player who loved to steal the games. I was always with one hand (the left, they say) inside the clothes, hiding letters. Nevertheless, due to the undeniable political prestige of their ancestors, he went down in history as a great strategist and not like the unfair player was.
Despite all the difficulties, the games have proliferated around the world and with the advent of the great navigations cultures met and exchanged information and were this time created the first export business games, key step for the growth of the sector. Historical books realize that sailors played a variety of board games on their lengthy journeys into the unknown. Among them are "Walking the plank" of Othu Baron; "Fleeing the Plague" by Odhou Tor and the classic "Riot" by Ostrha Ydhor.
The games in Brazil
Despite the very serious historical mistake which attributes the discovery of Brazil to the Portuguese, ancient documents found in excavations realize that other people have regularly visited the country, bringing forth numerous games, the most illegal, starting hence the Brazilian reputation for piracy.
When Pedro Alvares Cabral arrived in Brazil (tell by the way he just made the trip because lost a domino match with other navigators), found several groups of Indians in lively meetings. They played a very rough version of the game, known at the time as Tirouco. They were sheets of different sheet types and had a value esipulado the local paje. When someone had the highest sheet, called Zap, screamed like crazy, "- Tirouco, tirouco, tirouco." Often players bluffing, pretending to have a high-value sheet without having it and this often led to the most possible preposterous situations, often resulting in fights and deaths. They say that entire tribes were wiped out because of Tirouco championships. The game, which many say is the precursor Truco currently played (which seems to be true because the players act like fools when they play), it was being transmitted from generation to generation and suffering variations here and there.
Undeniably, despite the historical lack of brain talents attributed to Lusitanian cousins, it was they who somehow contributed to the enrichment of the Brazilian games industry at least at the beginning of the occupation of their new possessions, bringing to Brazil games already established in the Old World. However, with the passage of time, they saw that the habit of playing the Brazilians would eventually hinder the performance of services and consequently profits. Join to this the fact that African slaves (they did not play Caxangá) loved games and slave quarters ended up turning into true rudimentary casinos. Among the favorite games were "whipping", "The Trunk" and the "Great Escape", the latter created by the famous player Zumbi dos Palmares.
The Portuguese Crown then decided at a special meeting (of course with members receiving jeton to attend), abolished the games in Brazil. This infamous day, which became known as the Day of Abolition, marked one of the darkest phases experienced by all who loved the games. Arrests, torture, exile, everything was done to stop the momentum of the game in the country.
If it was a black stage, it was also a time of great heroes and martyrs, including therein the greatest martyr of gaming history in Brazil: the major player Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, known as Tiradentes. Inveterate fan of board games, promoted secret meetings which were disputadíssimos championships of various games. His group of players included poets, writers and other illustrious men who risked their lives to play. Tiradentes the big game "Mineira Conspiracy". He also created, among many others, "The Fifth" and the fabulous "Conspiracy". However, in Tiradentes class there was a player who was always in last place in the championships. Lousy strategist and mediocre player, Joaquim Silverio dos Reis, enraged by another last place in the Mineira Conspiracy Championship promoted by Tiradentes, decides deliver it to the Portuguese Crown. So as fate that showed the most courageous and brave face of this our great hero. Arrested, humiliated and tortured, Tiradentes was taken up before the judge, who sentenced him, "-Morrerás if you play another game in his life." Triumphantly raising your eyes, bringing in our hearts the love to all the games and provided the highest bravery, the great, the heroic, the magnificent Tiradentes said the phrase is, and always will be for all eternity, the biggest theme of Brazilian players "If I had ten games, ten games I would play." He was cruelly murdered, but left forever planted the seed of promising games in the hearts of his people.
Shortly thereafter, since the ban the games almost over, a simpleton name of farmer Filisto Athenaeum Lutenio Xerxes, has developed a simple game but soon fell into the graces of the Brazilian people. The purrinha. They used small sticks that could be easily hidden if necessary and did not need tables, markers or other parts. The game spread rapidly and Filisto, with the end of prohibition, it was decided to manufacture it on a large scale. It was the first game in series manufactured in Brazil. The game was presented in small boxes made of wood and brought an average of 40 sticks (and therefore can be played by many players still left and spare parts). The boxes were labeled Fiat Lux, taken from the initials of the manufacturer's name. As soon began producing the game demonstrated its fantastic potential and spread rapidly across the country and overseas.
With the passage of time and the death of Filisto his son Junior decided to use the original chopsticks to make a strange combination. Put a flammable material on the tip of each skewer and when it was passed quickly in the box, lit up. The invention in practice was not for nothing but to produce fire, but it was enough to draw the attention of people who saw that simple object a different toy. If it was good for Junior, because the new toy sold too, it was bad for the national games industry, as parts of the original game were burned.
We can not omit to mention in this work the Great D. Pedro I. Known for being a troublemaker player, yet always participated in the rounds of games, obviously because of the political position it occupied. On the occasion of the 1st Board Games Championship of foreign oppressors in the Americas, Brazil, as a colony, it had been prevented from participating. Pedro, enraged, because by this time was already in love with the country purrinha, ordered the organizers to Brazil were included in dispute. These (Dutch and Spanish), agreed with the request but only if someone with oppressive foreign blood represented Brazil. Acclaimed by the people, Pedro did not want to play, but hearing so many entreaties (and looks that were so many requests, so sincere, long-suffering, he dominated his disgust ...) proclaimed in a loud, lively voice: "If it is for the general good of the nation and of the Brazilian people, I say that game. " This day, which became known as the "Game Day", will be forever stored in the memory of Brazilian players, and there are even a bill in the National Congress, establishing this date as the Day of National Game.
Great other names in Brazilian history honored and brought prestige to the national jogabilístico sector, but even with such a rich history, the sector faces severe problems today. A heroic and courageous resistance is still done by groups of players, standing out on the national stage the Games Board, responsible for the rescue of our traditions jogadescas jogadicional the culture of our country and marked by an innovative vision of the future. Together, these Brazilian heroic struggle to make better and better games and more numerous, always looking for the enrichment of this important activity in the life of every citizen.

After the big joke is that the text of Mario, got a weight of collaboration.
Dr. DÉBORA Tereza MANSUR SILVA, psychologist, graduated from Mackenzie University, with post graduation in Early Childhood Education, sent me the text below, dealing with games and playing as a serious thing. Emphasizes Dr. Deborah, the importance of play for children, youth and adults, as a means of self-knowledge, transfer of information and culture in addition, of course, be a great adventure.
Upon receiving the text, I asked Dr. Deborah, to send some information to put on the site and make a summary of their activities. She summed up so well what you want, I prefer cites it in full:
"My current goal is to continue this ludoeducação area, still sensitive to the need to reshape the mistaken and frequent vision we have of games and play, and make available through a professional work, games and toys appropriate to the profile of each stakeholder, either individually or in groups, schools, institutions, etc., both in the concerned household, as in public places, parks, museums, exhibitions, clubs and others. I can also oversee teaching activities.
Playing is essential for humans. It should be encouraged and recognized as a right and a constant challenge for the betterment of all quality of life, but mostly of children's lives, waking early on a participatory spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
Perceive and convey the real importance of playing within the infant universe, adolescents and the elderly. Contribute to the pedagogical practice, involving, directly, children, parents, or guardians, educators, and indirectly society as a whole, this is my goal, and as a professional activity.
Have appropriate tools (games, toys, graphics ...) in my studio games, located in downtown São Paulo. "
After that, I can only thank Dr. Deborah, who already consider a friend, offering to those interested in learning more about her work, email address and contact telephone number.:
